(h) STEPHEN JOHN, b.8-Feb-1891, in Norwich; joined the Army in 1914 and, while serving with the 7th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment, was severely wounded at the Battle of Loos, January, 1916; Tunm., at the Fletcher Convalescent Home, Gromer, Norfolk, 1929-Q2;
“.... for thirteen years on his back in a spinal carriage - .. (he) helped the funds of the home very materially by his craftsmanship, making fancy articles which were sold at the annual garden fete .... He was always smiling, always cheerful, and he set the people around him a great example .... He was buried with full military honours at Norwich" (Local newspaper).
