m. 1) 2-Apr-1809, at St Michael Coslany, Mary Ann Clark (d. 1816. bd. 17-Nov-1816 St Pauls , lived in paeish of St John Maddermarket) witness at thewedding was Sarah perowne. This may have been Josephs elder sister of his neice , daughter of his brother James, who was a similar age. They had one son:

After her husband's death, Mary Ann Perowne kept a small general shop at 2, Wellington Lane, St Giles, Norwich, and latterly resided with her brother James Downes, over Leach's wallpaper shop3 in St Benedict’s Street, where she died, aged 86 1954-Q4.
