There is, in the church of St Augustine at Norwich, a tablet to the memory of Thomas Clabburn (d.1858), head of this important textile firm, making "shawls in every variety and also paramattas, baregees, tamataves, balzarines, poplins, fancy robes and Grenadines etc., .... The congregation of St Augustine's were known as ‘Red Steeplers' from the fact that the church tower was the only one in Norwich built of red bricks” (“The OldChurches of Norwich")
